About the Course
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a wide range of general information and communications technology (ICT) technologies and practices in different organisational contexts.Persons working at this level apply a wide range of knowledge and skills in basic networking, ICT support, testing, systems analysis and design, database development, programming and web development support.

All learner will undertake pre-training review which aims to identify their training needs through questions on previous education or training, relevance of the courses to learner, basic computing skills and interview conducted by NAIT enrolment officer. Interview also aims to identify possible RPL opportunities, confirm oral communication skills. Through pre-training review learner will demonstrate that they have necessary skills to successfully complete the courseLanguage, Literacy and Numeracy test (LLN)
• Candidate undertaking this course must possess sound Numeracy skills since it requires them to do calculations, make reports and graphs. • All students are required to undertake a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) test mapped at ACSF level 4 conducted by institute. • If students do not meet LLN requirements, students will be asked to take further Language, literacy and numeracy training e.g. EAL or academic English programs.Academic requirements
To enter this qualification, applicants should have successfully completed Australian senior secondary school examination (year 12) or higher (e.g. Certificate III or in relevant field IT telecommunication).English language requirements
International students applying for this course either off-shore or on-shore will require: i) Either a minimum IELTS (Academic) test score of 5.5 or equivalent for direct entry into a VET course; or, IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 10 weeks) to be taken before the main VET course; or, IELTS score of 4.5 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 20 weeks) to be taken before the main VET course; Results older than two years are not acceptable. All learner enrolling in to ICT programs must have basic computer skills and Learner will be required to undertake NAIT’s Computer skills test prior to course entry. Although NAIT will provide access to computers/laptops with required resources during classroom hours however to work on assignments and tasks for self-study, all Learner/students are expected to have access to a laptop or computer with the Windows 7 operating system or higher. This program is delivered under competency-based training which means instead of grading or marks, students are required to demonstrate all the criteria for each unit of competency and student are marked “Competent or “Not yet competent”. NAIT will use a range of assessment methods to assess required skills and knowledge for each unit of competency in the course.
